Yes, you can play in multiplayer now, but you need to complete the first two levels to get to the central room with the map. There you can select the option to enter co-op.Thanks for replying so promptly!I'm aware I had to complete the first two missions, and I have! But when I went to the central room and used the map, I couldn't find any games to join!

Any suggestions?
General gameplay questionsAre there any microtransactions? No.How can I access the cooperative online play? You need to finish first two missions (this will take about 15-20 minutes). After the second mission, when you repair the holomap, you'll be able to play the rest of the story (and all other game modes) in cooperative mode.Note: If you try to join your friend's game or get an invite, you need to have a character with the opened holomap ready.Other players are joining my game even when I want to play single!Joinable types of the missions (which are all except Story and Generic) are by default started in the multiplayer mode. That means that once you start the mission, anyone can join you via the gamebrowser.
Open Options / Gameplay Options and switch the 'Single player game visibility' to 'Always single'. This will mean that no one can join your game (and the mission will start a bit faster). When is the game state saved? The game state is saved every time you finish the mission, or when you close it or restart it - you won't miss any loot that you've gathered when you return to the base (there's only one exception and that's the credit cards that are placed in the level, these are added to your account only when you sucessfuly finish the mission). Can I have more than 3 characters at once?
Where are the games saved? At the moment the game supports only 3 character slots. But you can backup your save file for later and overwrite it with a new character, if you wish. You can find the save files at the following path (on Windows)%appdata%/./LocalLow/BadFly Interactive/Dead Effect 2/ - files profile0.sav, profile1.sav and profile2.sav correspond to the slots. What are the orbs showing in mission summary?Orbs are hologram icons of the ESS Meridian logo hidden in most missions on various places. Finding them and destroying them provides you a bonus when you finish the mission.Note: In some missions the locations of the orbs are not fixed and can be moved elsewhere when you try the mission again. How does the weapon's level work? The damage that the weapon does is based on its level. Everytime you find or buy a weapon, it's on the starting level (which is generaly the level your character currently has). By buying upgrades for the weapon, you can increase the level of the weapon up to the stated maximum that depends on the base quality of the weapon. Level of the mythical purple weapons can be increased by 4 levels by buying all the available upgrades.Note about the achivements1) Achievements are tracked separatedly for each character slot - which means that to get the achievement for example for killing 1000 enemies, you have to kill them with one character.2) Story mission achievements - once you get a story achivement with character, you don't have to fullfill it on another play of the mission to get the benefits. Control issuesMouse sensitivity is too high! The default setting of the game can be too high, especially if you have a high-DPI mouse.
Set the sensitivity in the controls (most users prefer to disable the smoothing and acceleration too). Some users with a high-DPI mouse reported that they are having problems with setting required sensitivity. In this case, try setting the value to exact number by opening the settings file you can find at%appdata%/./LocalLow/BadFly Interactive/Dead Effect 2/settings.dataSettings for the game are stored here in a standard JSON format. Locate mAimSensitivity (it should be at the start of the file) and change the number directly. My controller doesn't work!By default the controller is not enabled. Open Options / Controller Settings and enable the controller.Default setting work for most standard controllers, but there are some issues with several types, most notably Xbox One wireless controller on Windows 10 where you might have to change some of the settings to get it working. My character is spining around even when I'm not touching anything! Some of the drivers and controllers may wrongly report control axis to the engine, in some cases even when the controller is not attached at all, just has the driver installed. If you don't want to use the controller, simply disable it in the game.If you want to use the controller, you will have to change the settings in the game or in some cases even directly in the settings file. We will try to address this problem - meanwhile, try changing the controls or write here in the Steam discussions, we will try to help you with finding the correct configuration.
Performance issuesMy game is running very slowly!Although the Dead Effect 2 was originally a mobile game, we've upgraded it a lot for the PC version and that results in a rather demanding game. The most demanding features are the postprocess effects like SSAO, shadows, and effects (that control the number of the real time lights / vs precalculated lights). Try disabling them. Also please make sure that you're running the game with correct GPU if your computer has both integrated and dedicated GPU. Some laptops will automatically run game with the integrated GPU, unless you specificaly set the game for the dedicated card.
Integrated cars are generally too slow to run Dead Effect 2 with a reasonable frame rate.I have big frame rate, but my games stutters a lot every few seconds, making it annoying or downright unplayable! This problem occurs in a various rate with some i5 or AMD CPUs on some configurations:( We're still actively trying to solve it. Meanwhile, please try the following as it may reduce or even almost completely eliminate the issue:- running the game in DX9 mode - this helped in a lot cases.- setting Shadows to low or off- disabling Aero in Windows- disabling the Steam Overlay for the game- generally try disabling unneeded services and running programs in the background. General troubleshootingMy game crashed / I think I found a bug!If you encounter crash or a problem, please post what happened to the discussions or to send it to our support email.
It will help us a lot if you attach a log from the game right after the problem occured as it might provide clues about what happened.
